# Trader closing line value

> Get how often and by how much a wallet's large trades beat the closing price, over a time window.

Use this endpoint to see whether a wallet gets better prices than the market settles on before kickoff. Closing line value (CLV) compares each large trade's price with the market's [closing line](https://docs.0xinsider.com/api-reference/endpoint/get-market-close.md), and this endpoint summarises it over the wallet's large trades in a window.

The trades are the ones [Large trade history](https://docs.0xinsider.com/api-reference/endpoint/get-large-trades-history.md) returns with `trader` set to the same wallet and the same `from`, `to`, `min_size`, and `category`. Each of those trades carries its own `clv`, so you can rebuild every figure here from them.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Description |
| - | - |
| `address` | The wallet address, a known username, or the trader's `trd_` id. |
| `from` | The window's start, an RFC 3339 timestamp, inclusive. The default is 90 days before `to`. |
| `to` | The window's end, an RFC 3339 timestamp, exclusive. The default is now. The window can be at most 366 days long. |
| `min_size` | The smallest trade counted, in USD. The default is `5000`. |
| `category` | Count only trades in this sports or esports category, as on Large trade history. |

## How CLV is measured

A trade's `clv_cents` is positive when the trader beat the close:

* On a buy, it is the closing price minus the price paid, times 100.
* On a sell, it is the price received minus the closing price, times 100.

Both use the price of the outcome traded, so the figure is in cents per share, where a winning share pays \$1. It does not subtract fees. It uses the exact price the trade filled at, so recomputing it from the trade's `price`, which is rounded to 4 decimal places, can differ by up to 0.005 cents. Only trades placed before kickoff have a CLV; a trade during the game is counted in `excluded.in_play`.

## Key response fields

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `large_trades` | Every large trade in the window. |
| `measured.trades`, `measured.markets` | How many of them have a CLV, and in how many markets. |
| `measured.size_usd` | The total size of those trades, in USD. |
| `measured.mean_clv_cents` | The average `clv_cents` of those trades. |
| `measured.stake_weighted_clv_cents` | The same average, with each trade weighted by its size in USD. |
| `measured.share_beat_close` | The share of those trades with a positive `clv_cents`, from 0 to 1. |
| `measured.market_mean_clv_cents` | Each market's average `clv_cents`, averaged over the markets. Several trades in one game move together, so this figure counts each game once. |
| `measured.market_ci95_cents` | A 95% confidence interval on `market_mean_clv_cents`, as `low` and `high`. It is `null` with fewer than 2 markets. |
| `excluded.in_play`, `excluded.pending`, `excluded.unavailable` | The trades with no CLV, by their `clv.status`: placed after kickoff, waiting for the market's close, or on a market with no close. |
| `basis_version` | The version of the CLV rules, `clv@v1`, the same as each trade's `clv.basis_version`. |

The averages are `null` when no trade has a CLV, never `0`.

## Example

```bash theme={null}
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $OXINSIDER_API_KEY" \
  "https://api.0xinsider.com/api/v1/trader/swisstony/clv?from=2026-08-01T00%3A00%3A00Z&to=2026-11-01T00%3A00%3A00Z"
```

## What it does not return

* The wallet's smaller trades. Only trades at or above `min_size` that 0xinsider records as large trades are counted.
* CLV after fees, or the price a trade moved to minutes after it filled.
* A summary from part of the window. A window with more than 25,000 large trades returns `400`; narrow it or raise `min_size`.
* A wallet 0xinsider has no record of. That returns `404`.

## Caching

Save the response's `ETag` and send it in `If-None-Match` on your next request. If nothing has changed, the server returns `304 Not Modified` with no body. Send `to` to get a stable window, because the default `to` is the time of the request.
